GN solves the mystery of the strange woman peeking through the door of the Hydra Operating Room. No, it wasn't the infamous ghost-nanny.

Good morning, Joopers! Happy Tuesday!
1 day
16 hours
15 minutes
23 seconds
I've just now realized what's been missing this year - tons of fake/fan websites! Remember Mr. Clucks and Big UFO and all those crazy websites?
Well, here we go again! Courtesy of the TailSection.
http://www.mittelosbioscience.org/
http://www.thetailsection.com/
Is a new LOST Arg in the works? Or is this just another clever fan-site? Special thanks to Zack for sending us the following information:
The title for this next show is "not in Portland", referring to Portland, OR. Well, I happen to live in Oregon, and in the TV click section of the newspaper, there was an article in which the author wrote that there's a company in the Portland suburbs called Mittelos Bioscience. He said if you happen do stumble upon it, do NOT go in there. Well, that got me curious, so I emailed him asking where I could find Mittelos Bioscience, and he just said it's somewhere in the Portland suburbs and would pop up in the Lost episode on Wednesday... (2/7).

But with that said, I guess I've grown to accept that a lot of the stuff on LOST will never make scientific sense. As a man of science, this was depressing at first, especially given TPTB's statement that everything could be explained through science or psuedo-science. But somehow I've learned to overlook a lot of the really fuzzy science stuff and just go with the flow.
While I'm waxing on philosophically, I must say that I think it's a mistake to take a mechanistic approach to LOST, even though I did so myself the first season and part of last season. I don't think it's a puzzle, nor do I think it's something in which the whole can be divised from an examination of its individual tiny pieces.
Instead, I think we'll only understand this and be able to make a fully coherent story when all is said and done.
Been away for a week, BG, and ran across your post, catching up.
I'm glad to see another Lost fanatic say such a thing. I, frankly, have resigned myself to the assumption that there is no "explanation" - that there's nothing to "figure out". It's entertainment. For the first couple seasons, I really thought Lost was a puzzle that could be solved. But now I believe that, either by design or by necessity, TPTB write a storyline that simply cannot be understood, no matter how fastidiously one examines the details.
It's simply not designed to "understand". Someone in the old Tao thread postulated that the show is meant to be an experiential thing. Perhaps so.
But I'm itching to get back to watching it. I absolutely love the show, and will continue to wonder and struggle to make sense of it all.
How many days to go?

Hi Old Politico!
I'm inclined to agree that it's an experiential thing. I enjoy it most when I experience it as a process, the creative process of the writers, without thinking too much about the final destination. The other thing I love is the huge surprises they spring on us - the four toed statue is a perfect example. No amount of theorizing or prognosticating could have predicted that!
Which isn't to say I don't enjoy trying to peek around the next corner. I do that all the time and I enjoy it tremendously. But given that TPTB have flat out stated that not enough of the big picture has been revealed for people to arrive at a "grand theory," I figure why frustrate myself? Most of the "big ideas" I post on here are of the tin foil hat variety. Hopefully they're fun and entertaining, and hopefully they're coherent and logical, but if they turn out to be true - that's just the cherry on top.
Only one more day to go! Like you, I am thrilled about the new episodes and I can't wait to see what's in store during the coming months. I love this show!

The Night Before Lost
‘Twas the night before LOST
And all through the house
Not a keyboard was clacking
Not even a mouse.
The theories were posted
In threads with great care
In hopes that some answers
Soon would be aired.
The Joopers were nestled
All snug in their beds
While visions of smoke monsters
Danced in their heads.
And Joop in his smoking jacket,
And I in my cap,
Had just settled down
For a long winter's nap,
When over on the Fuselage
There arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my computer
To see what was the matter.
Away to the desk I flew like a flash -
And sat close to the monitor and dumped the old cache.
The glow on the screen, all eerie black and green,
Made me think for a moment I was in a submarine,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a bunch of answered questions just before the premiere.
Lots of wait, watch, and see - but few revelations.
I knew in a moment it must be Gregg Nations.
More rapid than eagles his answers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Sawyer! now, Jin! now, Desmond and Hurley!
On, Jack! on Sayid! on, Locke, Kate, and Charlie!
To the top of the ratings! There’s no time to stall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
Happy LOST Premiere, everyone!

"It’s a testament to our fans that only one clue we put in got missed. And it was something we hid so small, a tiny message hidden in a billboard. Other than that, people have figured everything out. I will say that there’s something hidden in tonight’s show. There’s an anagram that’s a clue to what’s coming up."

That would be the Widmore billboard last year, correct? Or, heaven help us, is he talking about another billboard clue we missed? But LOL, here we go with the anagrams again.

Guess that finally answers the question 'What did we miss in the pilot episode.' Either nothing, or something on a billboard.

Oh foo! Last week I was reading a book about the history of comic books. In it they mentioned a character from The Fantastic 4 early in the series who was called HIM. His name was later changed but I don't remember what his new name was.
I'll have to go look it up. It's bugging me.
