Oh dear me! There hasn't been this much pandemonium in the Joop Castle since last year's Valentine's Day Dance when Lucky and Zen (or was it Captain?) were spinning and twirling and dipping and doing the Forbidden Dance and Lucky accidentally knocked Joop's cigar out of the ashtray and set the ballroom on fire. Poor Lucky lost half her hair to the flames that night and wouldn't take off her mining helmet for days.

continued...SPOILERIt’s 16.5 years ago and Danielle’s team is dead. The sickness came and she killed them one by one. She went to the transmission tower and changed the message. Then, she delivered the baby herself, but in just one week the Others came and took Alex. One of the great Danielle mysteries has always been how a woman as pregnant as she could travel to the radio tower all alone and change the transmission. In light of the newest spoiler, I think she drove there. Sixteen years ago the island may have had passable roads. She goes inside the radio tower and records her message. But while she’s inside, Brennon takes off in the car – he has the keys! – leaving Danielle stranded. Brennon most likely was one of the Others or one of the Nother Others. He befriended Danielle’s team much like Goodwin or Ethan infiltrated the Losties. (It was them. They were the Carriers.) So Brennon’s barreling along in the car at a good clip and either runs out of gas, has a flat tire, or some other mechanical problem. But more likely, I think the smoke killed Brennon - he may have been driving away deliberately to draw the smoke away from Danielle – or not. He could have just been fleeing to save himself. He may have seen a “Yemi” like poor Eko. So Danielle’s stranded in the tower. She’s too pregnant to make it back to the pit. She’s too scared of the security system to leave. She’s trapped. She delivers the baby, then the Others come and take it. She's a sitting duck so to speak. They ignore the transmission she’s made. They control the transmission source, now. They know the signal can’t escape the island. Who was the transmission intended to reach? Patchy, who if rumors are true has a French name, Ranier. They may have left it playing to torment him. Imagine having to hear that cry for help for 16.5 years?done

Hi Seek, yes, I agree it's insanity out there. Lots of bannings going on, too. Best stay inside the Joop Castle or another mega thread and keep safe. spoiler talk4. According to recent statements by the producers, and per the timeline that's been suggested in the show, the events that are currently transpiring in Lost are taking place in late November 2004, possibly very early December 2004. At the end of ''Not In Portland,'' a character reveals the exact amount of time that he/she has been on the island. When you do the math, you will get an Estimated Date that comes suspiciously close to the exact date of an infamous, real-world catastrophe. Coincidence?I'm not sure what to make of it. Since I don't know which character talks about the exact amount of time he or she has been on the island, it's really hard to speculate. I'm guessing the character in question is Juliet, since it's a Juliet-centric episode. But it could be any of the Others - Zeke, for example. Or Desmond, maybe? I dunno. It's hard to say where this is going. done

I just keep on thinking about the 'real world' thing. Oh well, I guess we'll find out soon enough. Hi Captain, I took another look at the picture and it does look like a rabbit's foot ! You've got pretty good eyes because I thought it was Vincent's tail, lol ! Anyways, do you guys remember which arm Dr. Candle was missing ? It seems that this one is the right arm.

Yes, you're right, Captain. I thought it was just Vincent's tail. But it is indeed a rabbit's foot. Not just a rabbit's foot - a clean rabbit's foot. I wonder if this is just a production thing to be overlooked or if it signifies something about the cause of death of the person who's holding the key chain?

Hi Seek, more spoiler talkYour question about the time reference has been stuck in my head since last night. The shortest and simplest explanation I can think of is that it's Juliet's time reference - it is her episode - and it refers to something that's happened in the last ten years, maximum, but maybe a lot less. She appears to be in her early to mid-thirties, and she would have been at least in her mid-twenties by the time she finished her medical training. So a real-world catastrophe that occurred in the last ten years seems plausible, 1994 - 2004. But it many ways, despite it not being a Desmond-centric episode, it seems more likely that Desmond could utter the time reference. He seemed very obsessed with marking time if those hash marks in the hatch are any indication. Also, there's his question to Locke last season (paraphrased) "So the world's still out there?" Although I've assumed Desmond's question referred to his failure to push the button on time, it could just as easily indicate concern about a real world catastrophe that happened before he shipwrecked. So 2001-2004. Yikes. I hope they're not going with 9/11/2001. That would be an obscene trivialization, IMHO. I don't think I'm ready to see those events, or even a mention of those events, incorporated as "entertainment." I may never be. done

Good morning, Joopers. Some sad news this morning calls for a moment of silence in the Joop Castle. Last night Lucky e-mailed me to say that her hard-drive cannot be saved. Although she now has a new hard-drive installed and will soon be posting again, all her old data is gone forever. All those screencaps. All those wonderful photo-shopped images she created for us. All the theories. All the maps. Gone forever. Her loss extends as well to all manner of real-world data. Pictures, work files - the loss is enormous. So wherever you are in the world today, please observe a moment of silence for our dear friend's loss. Lucky, please know that I have all of the old Joop threads stored, and if any of them will help you recover any of your old pictures, maps, theories, etc, I will make them available to you at a moment's notice. Many of the old Joop threads have tinypic links where you may yet find some of your old pictures and maps. As well, I have some of your screencaps and photo-shopped images stored on my hard-drive. If there is anything I can do to mitigate your loss, just say the word. Again, Lucky, I am so sorry this happened. My heart goes out to you. bg

With him being on the Island for 3 years it would seem that 2001 would fit the bill. And yes, it would be awful if TPTB would even consider to mention 9/11 in the schemes of things. Even though 9/11 had such a major impact on everyone (even oustide of the U.S), could there be another 'real world catastrophe' that had impact to the world and an impact on Desmond ? I decided to do alittle research and found that in June 2001, there was a huge eathquake and tsunami that happened in Peru. The tsnuami was observed in Southern and Central Pacific, as far away as Hawaii and Japan. Hi Seek,spoilery talkI love your idea that an earthquake/tsunami could be the big real world catastrophe and that it could have caused Desmond to crash on the island. Lending plausibility to this idea is the fact that we saw him battling one helluva storm in his flashback. Moreover, we know abc/disney is actively courting South American viewers so perhaps they think a reference to a real world catastrophe that affected the area is a good idea, even though, again, I question the decision to trivialize something like this for "entertainment." Still, another reason I love this idea is a tsunami opens up the door for something other than a button pushing failure to be the cause of ships and planes crashing on the island. Now wouldn't that be just like LOST? Just when we think we know why all these boats and airplanes are crashing, TPTB throw in an alternate explanation...Oh dear me! But - but - where's my tinfoil hat? - maybe a failure to push the button causes earthquakes and the like on a global scale and doesn't just make the ground shake on the island only.BTW, sorry I didn't see your question about the arm. George is doing weird things today. If memory is correct, Dr. Candle is missing his left arm. The arm in the promo appears to be a right arm. We don't know which arm Montand lost. So I'm still going with this being Brennon's arm and that dam pesky key! done

Rabbit's FootI remember back in season 1, I was making a joke when I wrote that with all the rabbit references, obviously the show was all about reproduction. Little did I know...Rabbits, luck, reproduction, magic, underground--interesting ties to the show.
