But why they would be washing their socks and hanging them on a line to dry inside an airplane I cannot say.
Unless the airplane was not longer in the air...as in...crashed/landed???

They may be in a plane, but it is on the ground (IMO)and has been coverted into housing (another hint it is on the island?). Hi Captain, the plane idea was just me trying to come up with something new. I dunno if it is a plane or not. But the windows look very thick and the rest looks sort of flimsy, kind of like one of those temporary army shelters or something. It's probably nothing. But regarding that screencap and the list of emergency numbers, I don't think we discussed that last spring. It looks like a SOP corporate or military handbook. Did you see any emergency numbers? I see one small thing under "Emergency numbers" but I think the rest is a table of contents. Could all those things listed on that page have separate pages with emergency contact numbers? That doesn't sound right. In a true emergency he world could blow up while you were thumbing through the manual for the right person to call. LOL, maybe they're beurocrats.

Interesting....If you enlarge the page you can see something like this:Line 3: Responsibilities of Emergency Coordinator and Safety Monitors.Line 4: ..........Signaling Building occupants in case of fire or other emergency.Line 5:.....Procedures for Building occupants.Line 8: .......... Procedures for Emergency Evacuation.Sounds more like a complex, or at the very least a large building.
You have good eyes! It does sound a bit too elaborate for just two guys in a hut with their laundry hanging all over the place.I don't know what to make of it. Very strange.

It snows in Hawaii on the highest peaks. So snow in the tropics is not unheard of. (Mostly, this was just me playing 'what if...') I try to stay away from time travel/dimensional rift theories--that way lies madness More about assumptions about the Penny scene.We assume the events on the island are causing the anomoly that the guys are detecting. But this event could be happening in the past or the future, they could be detecting something else altogether.We assume that because we saw Penny, she is real and in the world. But wouldn't Desmond, thinking he was going to die, imagine the most wonderful thing possible--that Penny had found him and was coming to rescue him? Maybe his wanting it so desperately (and a big ole EM explosion) made it so. Maybe with a thought, he created a new outside world.
Seek, I'm in agreement with Captain that I don't want to go down any time travel/time rifts unless I'm absolutely backed into a corner with no other option. Captain, your points about our assumptions are excellent. We don't know that the events on the island are causing the anomoly the guys detected. We don't know when this is taking place, and we don't know for sure if Penny is real, although TPTB have indicated that she is.

Hi Captain, There could be lots of different experiments and stuff going on somewhat independently. Wouldn't it be wild if these two guys are on a frozen mountain peak on the island and have no idea what's going on below.

Hi Little Rosie! Long time no see! I don't know what to make of the shelter thingy the two guys were in. It had so many pipes and conduits and electrical outlets it's hard to think of it as an airplane. But those thick windows are troubling. But perhaps they are standard on buildings in extremely cold areas, even low-rent looking shelters like this one. I dunno. I'm stumped.

LOL, you know, the more I look at and think about that scene the more bizarre it gets. A weird space heater, laundry on a line, a newer computer monitor, an old looking phone - and that weird emergency manual page. Very very strange. Plus, it was daytime where the two guys were, and it was the middle of the night, presumably, where Penny was.

LOL, that's about right Captain. At least our Zen was thoughtful and used spoiler courtesy space. But I'm horrified everytime I see that one spoiler link that purports to be a synopsis of "Not in Portland." I like spoilers, but I don't want to know the whole episode. So every time I see that particular link I have to cover my eyes, toss the mouse away - you get the idea. I'm absolutely mortified that I'll accidentally see something I don't want to see when I go to Dark UFO's spoiler page. Or worse. That I'll give in to temptation and devour the synopsis.

Say, I just thought of something about the Penny scene. Assuming the detected anomoly was about the purple sky thingy, which happened in fall of 2004, this means crazy, evil Mittelwerk was still running Hanso. The Rachel Blake expose and the Alvar restoration didn't occur until summer 2006. Interesting.

zen and bg--Knowing your love of Asian cinema, I've been meaning to ask you if you've seen the movie 'Travellers and Magicians'. I watched it last week and am still thinking about it. The movie is lovely, but even more interesting is its writer/director--Travellers and Magicians (Dzongkha: chang hup thengi thruel nang) is a 2003 Bhutanese Dzongkha language film written and directed by Khyentse Norbu, a reincarnate lama of Tibetan Buddhism, who is also known as Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche. The movie is the first feature film shot entirely in the kingdom of Bhutan. The majority of the cast are not professional actors; Dendup, a well-known Bhutanese radio actor and producer, is the exception. The movie breaks ground as the first to take a Himalayan Buddhist perspective, offering a unique insight into this culture from the inside.

:0) I'm always here, just usually fraternizing with the dust bunnies that are so hidden even our excellent butler and maid only clean them once a year. The Joop castle has a lot of hiding spots, and sometimes I just listen through the vents. :0)
